Welcome to www.JimMacDonald.co.uk!
I've just finished my PhD in Maths at the University of Warwick. I studyed the affects of seasonal forcing in the birth rate of
simple epidemiological/epizootiological models and the consquences on the periodicity of the model dynamics. My
Supervisor was Prof Matt Keeling. My thesis entitled A computational investigation of
seasonally forced disease dynamics can be downloaded here.
I'm one of the maintainers of MathStuff An online teaching resource for students
studying Maths at the University of Warwick.

Research Downloads
Here is a selection of materials produced though my PhD research that are available to download.
- My thesis A computational investigation of
seasonally forced disease dynamics [PDF]
- My thesis in insane format (that is all on one page) [PDF]
- The slides for a talk I gave at one of the Ecology and epidemiology group seminars [PDF]
- The slides for a talk I gave at the BAMC in Liverpool in 2005 [PDF]
- Basin of attraction for the Simple SIR model. S_0
runs from 0.15848931924611 to 0.39810717055350 and I_0 from 1e-50 to 1e-1.g=0.5, i,j=50 so R_0=3.98
and x=0.0191938. Colours represent the period, and are the same as those in my thesis. [PNG]
- A movie comprised of plots showing the periodicity of the dynamics exhibited by the pulsed SIR model (see chapter 2 of my thesis) as the infections period varies from 66 to 2 days (g=0.015 to 0.495)

Here is a list of some of the other sites that I have. This is mainly for historical reference as most are now unmaintained really.
